Making a Real Difference 💚

Every day, we're creating positive change in our community

St. Alloyce School Students

Since opening our doors in 2015, St. Alloyce School has been more than just a place of learning. We're a beacon of hope for families in rural Kandiege - providing quality education, nutritious meals, and opportunities that many children in our area would never have otherwise.

We believe in sustainable development - helping our community grow in ways that protect our environment, empower families, and create lasting change. Every child we educate is an investment in our community's future.

Our Sustainability Efforts 🌍

Taking care of our environment and community

School Campus

Tree Planting Program

We've planted over 200 trees on our school compound since 2015. Students learn about environmental conservation while creating shade and improving our air quality. Each graduating class plants trees as their legacy.

Waste Management

We teach students about reducing, reusing, and recycling. Organic waste from our kitchen goes to our small compost pit. Plastic bottles are collected and reused for plant containers and creative projects.

School Grounds

Kitchen Garden

Our small vegetable garden provides fresh greens for our feeding program. Students help with watering and harvesting, learning practical agriculture skills. We grow sukuma wiki, spinach, and tomatoes organically.

Rainwater Harvesting

We collect rainwater from our classroom roofs during rainy seasons. This water is used for gardening and handwashing, reducing our dependence on the borehole. Simple gutters make a big difference!

Walking to School

Most of our students walk to school (1-3 km daily). This keeps them healthy and active while having zero carbon emissions. We're proud of our green commute! Parents organize walking groups for safety.

Book Sharing

Instead of requiring each student to buy new textbooks, we share resources and pass them down to younger students. This reduces waste and keeps education affordable. Community donations help expand our library.

Impact on Our Community 🤝

Employment

We employ 18 local people - teachers, cooks, guards, and support staff. These jobs support entire families in our community. We prioritize hiring from Kandiege and surrounding villages.

Local Suppliers

We buy our vegetables, maize, beans, and other supplies from local farmers and shops. Over KSh 500,000 annually stays in our local economy. Supporting our neighbors helps everyone prosper.

Health Awareness

We teach children about hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention. Students share this knowledge with their families. Regular handwashing, clean water, and healthy habits are changing community health.

Girls' Education

48% of our students are girls. We actively encourage families to educate their daughters. Many of our female graduates are the first in their families to complete primary education and move to secondary school.

Community Center

Our school serves as a community meeting place. We host parent meetings, health campaigns, and voting during elections. We're more than a school - we're the heart of Kandiege village.

Adult Literacy

Some parents who never went to school attend evening literacy classes taught by our teachers (voluntary). Learning to read and write is transforming lives at any age.

Success Stories 🌟

Real children, real achievements

Faith M. - Class of 2022

Faith started at our school in Grade 1, struggling with English. Through hard work and teacher support, she excelled in Grade 4 and is now thriving in upper primary at a nearby school.

"St. Alloyce believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. The teachers never gave up on me."

James O. - Class of 2023

James' family couldn't afford fees. Through our scholarship program and a sponsor, he completed his education. He's now in Grade 10 studying agriculture - his dream is to improve farming in our area.

"I want to come back and help other kids like me. Education changes everything."

Mary K. - Current Student (Grade 5)

Mary wants to be a doctor. She's top of her class in science and helps younger students with homework after school. Her father says: "This school gave my daughter confidence. She speaks up now!"

"I love science class! Our teacher makes it so interesting, even without a proper lab."

Our Goals for the Future 🎯

What we're working towards

2026 Goal: Solar Power

Install solar panels to power classrooms and reduce electricity costs. This will allow evening study sessions and computer lab use. Estimated cost: KSh 300,000

2027 Goal: Science Lab

Build a basic science lab with equipment for practicals. Our students deserve hands-on learning in biology, chemistry, and physics. Estimated cost: KSh 500,000

2028 Goal: Library Expansion

Double our library collection from 200 to 400+ books. Add reading spaces and study desks. A culture of reading transforms young minds. Estimated cost: KSh 150,000

Ongoing: Scholarship Fund

Grow our scholarship fund to support 50+ vulnerable children annually. No child should miss school because of fees. Target: KSh 200,000 per year
